Film Lighting

When we filmed our film we filmed during the day. We found that because it was during the day the film didn't have any atmosphere or tension apart from the light rain we had which created a slight atmosphere to our film. However, we have now re-filmed our film at night and have decided the film has a lot more tension and has created a dark atmosphere as it is now at night and as it is in a church yard looks a lot better at night and now looks right for the story line of our film.

Unused Film Ideas

In our film we were going to have a scene of the stalker, George, having a shrine with pictures of the victim, Rowan, all over the wall with her eyes crossed out on most of the pictures. Unfortunately we have had to cut this idea out of our film as we no longer think it will look right in the film and also we feel that if we include this scene the time limit on our film will run over and therefore we will not have enough time to include the main scenes, which are at the church and the victim's (Rowan's) house which we have already filmed, so we have decided to cut the shrine scene out of our film.

Filming Day Two...

Props...
  • Rowan - The Victim has a hand bag

  • Stephanie - The Victims Friend has a mobile phone

Costume...

  • Rowan - The Victim wears a red coat showing the audience that she's the victim. A hat, scarf and gloves, boots, blue skinny jeans.

  • Stephanie - The Victims Friend wears a plain coat because it is at night - cold. plain boots, blue jeans and gloves.

  • George - The Stalker wears a black hoody, black jeans, black gloves and black shoes. The dark colours show the audience that he is the villain. When the hoodie is covering his face it adds to the mystery of the thriller because the audience have no clue of who he is.

Shots...

  • High angle shot - Hollie shot this shot of Rowan and Stephanie first entering the churchyard.

  • Panning shot - George shot a panning shot of the graveyard to Rowan and Stephanie walking up the stairs to the church doorway.

  • Point of View shot - Rowan and Steph have walked up to the doorway of the church and are saying goodbye. George shot his point of view of watching the two girls from inside the church doorway.

  • Low angle shot - Hollie shot the low angle shot of Steph and Rowan saying goodbye and walking away, Rowan walks towards the camera and past. Steph walks the opposite way.

  • Point of view shot - George shot his point of view of him walking towards the corner of the church doorway where Steph walks past. He puts his hand on the wall edge and peers around the corner to see Steph walking around the church and out of the yard. He then walks to the opposite corner of the church to peer round to see where Rowan is. He begins to follow her.

  • Swoop shot - Stephanie shot this swoop shot, which starts from the top of the church then swoops down to Rowan walking past the church and her shadow, and then George walking 'stalking Rowan' behind with his shadow until they walk of the camera.

  • Over shoulder shot - Stephanie shot the over the shoulder shot. She held the camera so that you could see the hood of George's Hoodie and Rowan's head and shoulders in the shot.
  • Panning shot - Stephanie shot the panning shot which transfers from the over the shoulder shot to a panning shot to the wall of the church which shows the shadow of Rowan on the floor and George strangling her until she goes limp.

Capturing film day one...

On Monday we captured our thriller from the video camera to the mac. After our work had been captured we watched our work back and decided that the rain made the thriller mysterious however because the filming was during the afternoon rather than night time therefore there were cars driving past constantly which ruined our camera shots. Also because the filming was not in the dark as we watched the film we didnt feel any suspense or mystery to our thriller.
We are going to film over what we have already recorded tomorrow night.

Review of our Filming

When filming we had some problems. One problem we had was that when we looked at the storyboard we had different ideas for shots while filming so when filming we didn't follow the storyboard exactly. This may cause a problem as we may have to re-do our storyboard as in the film is not in storyboard order. However, the new shots we did find to film, we think have made our film look better than what was on the storyboard as when filming we found different places to film shots. Also when filming we found that some shots didn't look right for the story line of our film, so again found that we had to change these. By changing them, we again think it has made our film look a lot better as the shots of people or locations look better. Also when filming, it did rain for a little while which we think is a good thing as this will add more affect to our film as it will make the film look more dark and more mysterious. We also think the rain creates an atmosphere not only for the location, but also between the stalker and the victim.
